Australia’s ABC…shameless propagandists for the left:

‘Under Labor, 50,000 boat people arrived and not once did the ABC feel the need to keep track of each boat.
But now, with the Coalition in power and boats down to three a month, the ABC creates a site to track and publicise every single one.
And note: nowhere in the ABC’s dedicated site does it show or refer to boat arrivals under Labor to put the latest arrivals in context…’     source

  1. Wombat says:

    Indeed.
When the left is in power they mutter “the press should be neutral…”
When the right is in power they shout “the press should hold the government accountable!”

Not that I favor the left or right. I just hate hypocrites.

  2. KG says:

    Damn right, Wombat.

  3. Pascal says:

KG, This is not the first time one of your links did not work for me. That source up there copies fine as
    http://blogs.news.com.au/heraldsun/andrewbolt/index.php/heraldsun/comments/

But it gets redirected by my browsers to read The requested URL “http://blogs.news.com.au/heraldsun/andrewbolt/index.php/heraldsun/comments/” cannot be found or is not available. Please check the spelling or try again later.

And it winds up on a yahoo web crawler with the following key words:
blog news comments herald sun andrew bolt

Do you have a more specific title of the post so that I can let my browser find that?

    Thanks and Sorry.
(I fear we may be in for more informational static in the future, so why not try to figure out a work around now?)

  4. KG says:

Hmm..I just went back and checked the first link, Pascal, and it left off the last bit for some strange reason. The link read:
    http://blogs.news.com.au/heraldsun/andrewbolt/index.php/heraldsun/comments/
    When it should have been:
    http://blogs.news.com.au/heraldsun/andrewbolt/index.php/heraldsun/comments/abc_suddenly_very_interested_in_boats_now_liberals_are_in_charge/
My apologies, I’ve no idea how that happened. Now fixed.

  5. Redbaiter says:

Abbot needs to snap out of this magnanimous bullshit mode and deal to those subversive communist swine at the ABC.

I wasn’t too fucking impressed with his fawning speech when Krudd resigned either, especially the part where he rubbished John Howard for refusing to “apologise” to the “stolen generation”.

I saw Peter Hitchins describe Abbot as a typical western pretend Conservative politician who will make out he believes in Conservatism at election time and then betrays it once in power.

    I hope Hitchens was wrong.

    • KG says:

I hope he was wrong too, RB.
As I see it, Abbott’s Achilles heel is that he’s basically a decent bloke who refuses to accept that some people are just plain evil.
He thinks truth and commonsense ought to carry the day and of course they won’t.
As for the ABC…..I’m at a loss to understand why the Coalition isn’t making noises about reforming it.
His praise of Rudd was disgusting, and a very very bad miscalculation.

      • Pascal says:

“and a very very bad miscalculation.”

Or it could be worse. GWBush’s acting not just charitably but glad-handing with Teddy Kennedy always struck me as a sign that there wasn’t anything the Left could charge him with that would he’d respond with only trying to please them.

If you begin to see Abbott behaving to chummy with the Left Downers* and ABC (but I repeat myself), and you call him on it, be prepared — literally — for being charged with Abbot Derangement Syndrome. The pattern has been played before and to success for the Statist Downer agenda, so remember you heard me warn you of it before it’s been invented.

*Please note: I’ve decided really to accept Ronald Reagan’s assessment about the political spectrum and actually use it.

There is no such thing as a left or right. There’s only an up or down: up to man’s ages-old dream, the ultimate in individual freedom consistent with law and order, or down to the ant heap of totalitarianism.

I’m no longer enslaved to the ABC’s of the world, and so I’ve invented my own labels. And they are even easier to understand than Left and Right.
        I am with the Upsiders.
My enemies, the enemies of liberty, are the Downers.

  6. Wombat says:

I don’t like advocating for any government interference in our lives but a canny operator would wait until they had the numbers in Canberra and then shitcan the ABC with promises to put the money into welfare.
Then, pick a fight with some tin-pot dictator, cite crimes against humanity, cry emergency and shove the money into the military instead.

Of course, my preference would be to scrap the ABC to pay off our debts and end the matter right there, but it’d never go over with the Generally Dumb Public.

  7. Mathew says:

I agree 100% with KG and Redbaiter, Abbott is going to have to start privatizing the ABC, playing nice with those swine will never get him anything, sooner or later he’ll see that they’ve declared war on him, the sooner he gets started, the quicker the squealing will be a distant memory come election time.

I fear though that Abbott is too decent a bloke to do it, most of us Conservatives are like that, we want to play nice and fair, it’s that whole Christianity thing instilled in us, forgiveness, mercy etc, never works in politics, it’ll be his undoing.
