Of liars, idiots and scammers:

NZ Herald headline, this morning:
Experts have delivered a dire warning that rising sea levels will put some suburban areas of coastal Christchurch under water within 100 years.
The city council is now making plans for what will be a vastly different looking Canterbury coastline, caused by warming seas, melting ice in Greenland and Antarctica, and more storm surges.
….The warning comes in a $90,000 report carried out by environmental consultants Tonkin & Taylor for the city council.
They key factor in the report is that it supersedes previous estimations of sea level rises.
Instead of sea levels rising to half a metre by 2115 as predicted by international authority Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) the Tonkin & Taylor report says it will be double this…’   (bold mine)
Since the Turleyclown got stuck in ice, the media have doubled down on warmist scaremongering stories. So, what’s in it for them? It surely can’t be increased readership, since poll after poll has shown that people are turning off the bullshit.
My hunch is that warming has become a full-blown cult, not just a fad, driven by other people’s money. And a feature of cults is that opposition only strengthens the believer’s zeal.

There is some reasonable basis of concern in this but possibly for different reasons. Land levels have moved a fair bit in the Christchurch coastal areas during the earthquakes and some areas are now very vulnerable being at about high tide sea level although not exposed to the ocean directly.

While I think its OK to be mindful of facts I still don’t think you can live your life worried about something that may or may not happen in 100 years. Living at the seaside has inherent risks that I don’t fancy – too much maintenance required for a start.

I remain of a view the ranting warmists are scammers and the science is hardly that.

More complete bollocks from the warmists!

The so-called “scientists” claim to be able to measure “sea level” from satellites to within a fraction of a millimetre when there are waves, winds (which can have an effect on water level), tides, gradual crustal movements and goodness-knows what else going on……..

”Politics is the art of looking for trouble, finding it everywhere, diagnosing it incorrectly and applying the wrong remedies.” Groucho Marx…

”As is climate ‘science’.” Seneca III.

What the Global Warmongers do is take multiple measurements over a period of time**, factor in weather, tidal effects, latitude and gravity***, coriolis effects and apparently many other variables of their choice depending upon the ‘desired result’ and then they calculate the mean or the median value – which is the crap they feed us.

I had a look at some of their algorhythms quite a few years ago now when my mathematical brain was still fully functional, and whilst the mathematics, if broken down into individual segments, is valid (well it should be, it’s done by computer these days) the way it is manipulated within the construct as whole is questionable to say the least (I’m halfway into another nice bottle of 2007 Fitou so I am feeling quite charitable at the moment. )

As best as I can remember they did not factor in plate tectonics.

**Which itself is ‘variable of choice’ 
***This variable, ‘g’, is not a constant globally as the Earth is an oblate sphere!

I wonder if the environmental consultants offered to return the $90000 if the sea level doesn’t rise by the promised 1 meter in their report. Somehow i doubt their predictions would have been so dire if that were the case. Besides they couldn’t just take the $90000 and tell the council, nothing to worry about, go back to sleep.

It’s a strange old world we live in these days, the more frightening and expensive the reports of – abandon all hope – the more excitable we get when parting with more of our hard-earned.

$90000 for this shit when they still have homeless people affected by the earthquake aftermath.
