    Yep, it’s a plausible, simple explanation and may well be right. But I can see a couple of holes in it.
    They would have had time for a Mayday call.A wheel bay fire is unlikely to have wiped out comms immediately.
    The engines kept transmitting info to the satellite for five hours.
