I learned that the NZ Army is “highly trained, disciplined and well equipped to respond rapidly to a range of situations in New Zealand and overseas” (doesn’t specify what they actually do).
Apparently they respond well to “situations” and they offer “assistance.”
(The word “defense” doesn’t appear once in their mission statement.)
Nowhere on the site is there any mention of the “purpose” of the army (although you can read between the lines).
Sigh – bring back them days!
Damn right! The world was a better place, and I don’t believe that’s just age talking.
I well remember similiar times here in NZ,sadly long gone.
Might be off topic, but I had a poke around the NZ Army website http://www.army.mil.nz/default.htm
