Nearly twenty years after I built this ultralight sea kayak, I just found out that it’s still in use, and by the look of it, in good condition.

    No market for them, Mawm. Everybody wants cheap plastic things they can drag over rocks and leave out in the weather all year.

    Thanks for the kind comments, all. The owner just put this comment up elsewhere:
    I love taking it out when there is someone on a plastic and just fu**ing blow them away, style everyone appreciates. Paddle half-asleep at 5kn, just love it!!
    :grin: As the designer as well as the builder, that gave me a big lift.

    I have a plastic one. :oops:
    It’s a good one though, but I wouldn’t drag it out over rocks or leave it out in the sun.

    I have seen such beautiful wooden ones and would really like one, but at the moment just haven’t got the money to buy one or the time to build one. Too many responsibilities weighing me down in adulthood, man do kids have it sweet.

    I still remember when I was a kid wishing I could just grow up already, oh young dumbass, if only you knew. :smile:
