      It’s a great shame that the Crusades weren’t able to be pushed to the bitter end. What a *great* thing it would have been for the world if the Crusaders had taken Mecca and Medina and made them *Christian* cities. Either that or they could have burned them to the ground.

    The moral equivalence almost astounds me more than the fact he’s been allowed to remain in place after ~45 years of virtual non-existence followed by ~6 years of non-stop, blatant lying and pandering.

    Yes, the methods used during the Crusades (as others have pointed out, a self-defence action, NOT – as some would have it – an “invasion”) were barbaric by modern standards. But, the Crusaders (and the mohammedans) were using the most advanced weaponry available at that time. Today, the mohammedans are being deliberately barbaric, using medieval and stone-aged methods deliberately to horrify and terrorise the modern world.

    Fact is, iSlam – en toto – could be swiftly rendered into the waste paper basket of history if the West were to get a little medieval on them. It’s the fact we’re too “civilised” (read: squeamish) that allows the barbarians to continue thieving oxygen both in the M.E. and in our own midst.

        It’s not possible to force-eradicate a thought-process, no matter how vile and backward. What is achievable, however, is outlawing the outward manifestations of that thought process.         Make it very, very clear that for every civilised person they murder, an indeterminate number of theirs will be executed (it’s a far better method for emptying gitmo than the Catch & Release that Barry has going on).

        There are many steps that can be taken to send a message.

          Thanks, I find all your suggestions palatable. In other words you are treating the atrocities committed in the West as law and order issues rather than insisting on military responses. Therefore once the West begins actively and strenuously dealing with civil atrocities the governments can ponder sending in their armies to attack the source of these pricks. Has Obama got the resolve to do this? I think Putin just may have?

              Many years ago (38) when I first became a lawyer (I still am, although close to retirement) the verbal disdain towards lawyers was widespread. An old lawyer said wise words to me:”Nobody needs a fireman until there house is on fire, nobody needs a lawyer until they are on fire!” Those few words convinced me of my social utility and experiences have cemented them. I can tell you that the defendant’s box in a courtroom is one of the most dangerous and lonely places in creation and the only friend and assistant the defendant has is a lawyer.     There are lots of ways to approach the situation but a modern crusade is about the worst one of the bunch, particularly from the perspective of someone who would be drafted to kill women and children by the thousands. And if we think terrorism is bad now, wait until Islamic governments have nothing left to lose. Even if we won we would still lose as cities burned and sort of nuclear winter set in.

    There are better options that don’t involve dead and disfigured boys coming back by the thousands.

    Personally I think we could nip this in the bud by having another look at the term treason and punishing it in an appropriate manner.
