The propaganda machine.

This, from John Lott, author of “More Guns, Less Crime”:
‘Why is it with all these cop shows have people registering their guns?
..Miguel Gonzalez has told about something called the Entertainment Industries Council. The Council has put together a long list of suggestions on how to write up television and movies to get across gun control ideas (see here). The number of inaccuracies in their write up is simply staggering and I don’t have the time to go through them now.
— “Consider depicting the reality that women are far more likely to be shot by husbands or lovers than by an intruder. Odds are that a gun in her home will be used against her rather than in her defense.”
— “Consider showing someone who is attempting to use a gun in self-defense being overpowered by the attacker who then uses the gun against him or her.”
— “Consider having characters successfully use alternatives to guns for self-defense, such as pepper spray or mace.”

— “Consider showing a parent chastising his or her spouse for leaving a gun where their children can find it.”

The propaganda angle is nothing new,it’s been going on in the entertainment media for years. The show Law&Order for example originally billed itself as a television drama with “real stories ripped from the headlines”.

So an episode that featured a muslim honor killing was twisted to an ending where it was a “fundamentalist Christian”who was the real perp and he (insert white male gun owner) did the deed to frame up the poor, innocent bambi like muslim, cause all muslims are gifts from god and all evangelical Christians are evil racist bigots

On a bright note, the picture in that article reminded me that I owe myself a nice large bore revolver for my birthday in a few months. The only question is .44m ,.45lc , .357m or one of each?http://falfn.com/CrusaderRabbit/wp-content/plugins/wp-monalisa/icons/wpml_yahoo.gif

FBI figures tweaked to show phony increase in mass shootings, report says
Crime stats published by the FBI and relied upon by the media distort the gun violence and leave the public with the impression “mass shooting” incidents are a much bigger threat than they really are, according to a criminologist and Second Amendment scholar.
The bureau’s annual reports tabulating and classifying a wide range of crime throughout the nation have been historically free of politics, but John Lott, president of the Crime Prevention Research Center, said the latest statistics contain numbers that are misleading at best and deliberately fudged at worst. Lott believes the numbers may have been presented to overstate for political purposes the true risk of being a victim of random gun crimes.
….A counter report by the CPRC show that if the biases and errors were corrected, the Bureau’s data would show that the annual growth rate for homicides in mass shootings had been cut in half, Lott said.
He suspects manipulation, and not merely mistakes.
