What the hell is it with so many women? The minute they get political or bureaucratic power, they have this fucking compulsion to play mommy to the adult population. The evil bastards lack either the intellect or the integrity to distance their responsibilities from their emotions.
And the depressing reality is that many Kiwis will nod in approval and say it’s to protect the vulnerable. Which it isn’t, and it won’t, but so many are incapable of grasping the fact that liberty is lost by increments, not by stormtroopers kicking down doors at 4 am. These laws, like so many, will be utterly unenforced except where it becomes politically expedient, so be sure that when some psychotic feminist threatens to shoot you in the back and you reply by telling her to get a dick in her and lighten up, you’ll be the one standing in the docks and she’ll be the one sitting in the gallery laughing.
As for Redbaiter’s opinion that this law is written by mis-educated poncing political thugs who have no real idea how to write law, with the extremely subjective phrase “grossly offensive to any reasonable person” being a stand out example of their inability, he misses the mark.
These laws are deliberately vague, and when they are contested in court the state will rule in favour of the state. You can bet your ass on it.
This, gentlemen, is a line-in-the-sand moment in history.

I gave that some thought but I suspect that this will play out thusly.
The bureau tasked with monitoring offences will be a closed door organisation with no publicly listed number. In the event you’re able to contact them they will tell you to file a complaint and you’ll never hear from them again.
If enough guys like you “gum up the system” then they’ll pull up the drawbridge entirely and simply emerge to dump dossiers on the desk of the relevant public prosecutor.
The target will be given a “settle or be publicly flayed” ultimatum and they’ll take it, knowing they can only lose if the matter goes to court. The result will be a suspended sentence (be a good boy or else) and a fine big enough to drop you from middle class to lower class for the next decade.
All nice and tidy. No tyranny to be seen here. Nobody dragged off in the night. No screams. No mass graves. Just a few million silent, terrified souls desperate to maintain their status as law abiding citizens.

Well, DT, to tell you the truth, when me and my friends see gays together in a public place we think puke, but we say nothing, for legal reasons. They can make whatever laws they want, but all that it achieves is people just keep it all inside, and keep their distance, from these queers. The two people I’m thinking of are two fat people. And also another time this queer with a funny voice.
Well the government can pass pro-faggot laws until they are red in the face, but queers will always remain biohazards outside the mainstream.
