  1. The Gantt Guy says:

Really? This muppet is a Minister of the Crown and actually used the word “baddies” in an interview with a major “news” outlet?

Fuck me but I despair for our children.

  2. The Gantt Guy says:

“The agency says if people refuse, it can leave no way to uncover evidence of criminal offending even when officers know the device holds that evidence.”

Bullshit. An Affidavit followed by a Court Order and either the holder opens it up or it goes to the nearest forensic specialist facility.

These bastards want to avoid that whole messy “probable cause” issue.

    • Wombat says:

The purest demonstration of this stupidity is that after retrieving my data from an unintentional drive wipe, it took me four hours to merely sort the data much less sift through it for content.

But even that is not the issue.

If this bitch wakes up dead with a security keypad jammed in her mouth then it will be a fine day for liberty.

    • KG says:

This is telling: “..even when officers know the device holds that evidence.”
      Know? How?
If they’re looking for evidence then the person who owns the device must be innocent at that point.

      • The Gantt Guy says:

Eggs-fucking-sactly. What the bastards know is completely and entirely irrelevant. Can they prove it sufficiently to obtain a Court Order? That should be the question.

  3. KG says:

There’s a definite pattern here in NZ (and in Australia and Britain) of women being promoted to positions of power which are far, far above their intellectual pay grade.
And the first urge these loathsome bastards get is to control people. Never mind centuries of common law, custom and justice and liberty – if something feels good then it must be the right thing to do.
Self-righteous, ignorant assholes wielding far too much unaccustomed, unaccountable power. I’d sooner see chimps running nuclear power plants.

    • The Gantt Guy says:

Agree. This silly bitch with the hand-over-your-passwords, right on top of Oberleutnant Judith Collins / Trained Monkey Amy Adams and the “harmful” digital communications act.

Clipboard-weilding schoolmarm cunts back up by the billy-club of state authority.

  4. Cadwallader says:

This sounds sinister and stupid but how will it work? Is this tart suggesting that we’ll all be obligated to hand over cell phones etc on arrival into NZ? Will it be dodgy looking passengers only? Will it be random?

  5. Darin says:

The worst part of this charade is that anyone who has anything sensitive to move electronically does so un encrypted through any number of virtual mail servers. It’s how Obama and his corrupt crony traitor network does it.There is stuff all any of the so called “authorities” can do about it short of pulling the plug on the entire WWW.

It’s just another hoop our commie overlord masters want everyone to jump through.

  6. dondiego says:

I agree 100% with everything stated above. Esp Wombat’s comment. Did any of you kiwis even vote for this woman?

Yeah, I know… This part “So we are trying to write the greatest flexibility into that system.” should read “It’s deliberately ambiguous so if we *”know”* you “baddies” at CR are Guilty of Crimethink our [appointed] lefty judges can crucify you”.

  7. Michael in Nelson says:

I know all my rage at this idiocy ha=s been stated already (especially the “know” bullshit) but I have to add my voice to the protests. What this Bitch wants is the revocation of the Magna Carta and the right of an individual to have any privacy at all. Would that I could kick her in the crotch with cheers instead of a lawsuit!

  8. KG says:
