NZ Herald headline:
“John Key wants to sell off regional NZ to Chinese in order to bail out his government”
Well, not quite. What the headline actually says:
‘Wanted for regions: Chinese buyers
The Prime Minister says people outside the City of Sails are telling him they want Chinese buyers in their area because they increase the value of their homes..’
How many people? I suspect these “people” just happen to be employed predominantly in the real-estate business.
Update:    ‘Regional leaders reject Key’s claim
Regional leaders say they want foreign investment, but not in their houses, despite claims by Prime Minister John Key to the contrary…’

    Another pointless well-researched item from the NZ Herald. The problem could be fixed by those living in the regions adopting Chinese names?
    What seems to be occurring is that a number of businesses are being purchased by those from India and this seems to be a trend around the country. The number of Chinese buying residential property outside Auckland barely registers.

    Hey, only a bit off topic.

    This — Poland’s Conservative President, Andrzej Duda, Takes Office— reminds me of how relieved many on the Right were that a conservatives like Key and Cameron won their respective elections. Let’s hope the Poles are less disappointed. Especially given that Putin is on their right.

    Well that makes it official. People on a New Zealand income cannot afford to own a house on kiwi wages. But wait a minute if these new owners charge rent how will it be profitable for them?
