The true cost of refugees.

Australia:
‘the idea that refugees as a whole make us richer is pure fantasy:
A mammoth effort will be needed to settle 12,000 refugees from Syria and Iraq, according to government research that reveals the struggle of new residents to get off welfare and find work.
Amid estimates of a $700 million bill for last week’s decision to offer help to those fleeing persecution, the research finds that almost half the refugees who are given places in Australia’s humanitarian intake have never had a paid job, while many have never attended school…’
Add to that 700 million the social costs, and the decision to import 12,000 of these people looks like insanity.
Sweden:
‘..In Sweden, where equality is revered, inequality is now entrenched. Forty-two per cent of the long-term unemployed are immigrants, Mr. Sanandaji said. Fifty-eight per cent of welfare payments go to immigrants. Forty-five per cent of children with low test scores are immigrants. Immigrants on average earn less than 40 per cent of Swedes. The majority of people charged with murder, rape and robbery are either first- or second-generation immigrants…’

When my parents sailed to NZ on the Goya in 1951 from Europe we, as displaced people, had no expectations except that we were being expatriated to be useful to NZ. Canada or Australia. My parents were told this. We came here with this expectation, and yes, the journey was hard . Nobody knew anything about NZ. My mother saw a Maori greeting and thought they wanted to kill her. Apart from some kindly charities, there were no benefits. We did not come for that. My parents came to a similarly Christian Country, they learnt the language, worked like dogs, became Kiwis and assimilated willingly, even though it was often difficult. Immigrants still do this, but I worry about Muslims and their motives. Frau Merkel should lose sleep about what she has done to Germany. And Europe.

Same with my family, Mara, except to a different country.
What we are seeing now is not immigration in the sense we knew it to be.

Meh, Frau Merkel’s compassion only lasted a few days. I wonder why.
