We’ve always had a fairly sturdy freedom of speech here in New Zealand. It’s not America where you can advocate the death penalty for looking sideways at a minor, or tout the glory of toting a gun around in your garter holster, or “open carrying” as they like to refer to it in Texas.
But we do have freedom to think out loud with little fear of reprisal, other than online bemoaning and venting? The world has turned and, whilst turning, tipped a little to the right…’
Somebody needs to point out to this fuckwit that WOMEN have been and are at the forefront of pissing our liberties away, in their idiot pursuit of “security” via authoritarianism.

  2. To her credit I think Pollie is pondering a big picture but doesn’t have the knowledge base to understand and make clear what she is afraid of and why. If that’s correct she can be educated and become like the peshmerga if that is what she wants or await her fate if not. I think there are plenty like that but believe many will fight when they have to. They will be the women that rightly sit alongside the best of men because they are different but equal.

  3. It’s heartening that the vast majority of the comments are to the effect of “import more islam and you will lose more women’s rights”.

    Comments sections, particularly the lightly moderated ones, are what gives me hope for western civilisation.

  4. I’m deeply concerned for the future of western civilisation when someone who ostensibly makes their living from the written word is so utterly uneducated and ignorant that she can’t spell Tolkien, or Navajo.

    Of course all that “I am woman, hear me roar” cant is completely off-putting. She quotes a heroine who roars about “… undo[ing] the ties of serfdom…” yet I’ll bet she never thought twice about ticking the box for “Green Party” at successive elections.

    That said, I’m very happy she has finally woken up to an unpleasant nagging in the back of her mind. Perhaps she will be encouraging her men-folk to re-discover their inner Saxon or Viking.

    • Gantt, I couldn’t make out any obvious message from what can only be described as her musings. The fact she appears to be apprehensive about something is an encouragement but her message is a dog’s breakfast nonetheless. It may be that the anti-Islamo sentiments which follow her column may awake some inner perspective? It would be reassuring to read continuing columns of this type but I don’t think we ought hold our breaths, yet.

      • Agree – she’s still only vaguely aware of the hair on the back of her neck starting to tingle. She’ll likely still vote Green, right up until the day she’s put into a Black Sack and told that voting thing she used to do? That’s not for her any more.

    TX doesn’t have allow open carry of handguns which is what “open carry” usually refers to. AZ has legal open carry (or concealed with or without a permit).

    and women, myself included, are not the fault of all the leftism (or did I stray into that idiotic “this blog is dangerous” land of insanity http://falfn.com/CrusaderRabbit/wp-content/plugins/wp-monalisa/icons/wpml_wacko.gif where the morons think women shouldn’t have the right to vote?). I’ve worked with Europeans, mostly MEN, since the late 1980s and they were almost ALL leftist/socialist and voting leftist which, to my calculations (being the Engineer and all) means they are EQUALLY at fault.

    Let’s not forget Thatcher.

      No, women are not the fault of all the leftism. But women as a group have a record of supporting clowns such as Obama (somewhere close to 80% if I recall rightly) and they have a history of disproportionately voting for repressive legislation that’s couched in terms of “improved security” and suchlike.
      The number of female warriors for liberty is miniscule.

        Most clichés have their roots in reality, and the woman-wielding-the-credit-card one is well established. Political talk around the morning tea table at work is animated when talking about welfare issues, but the moment you start talking “national debt” and “inflation” and “GDP” the eyes of the women glaze over.

        Of course, this means we appreciate the exceptions all the more.

        The bottom line is that when we accept national debt we accept the inevitable end of our society. The female vote might speed that along but it was still always inevitable.
