Singing the Song of Angry Men

Daily Mail-

‘Groups intent on trouble are appearing from all directions. They include those from the extreme right and the ultra-Left.’

The movement, organised through social media, has steadfastly refused to align with any political party or trade union but has grown into a mass movement amid frustration at Macron’s presidency.

The ‘yellow vests’ include many pensioners and has been most active in small urban and rural areas where it has blocked roads, closed motorway toll booths, and even walled up the entrance to tax offices.

Chantal, a 61-year-old pensioner who came from an eastern Paris suburb, said she was avoiding the ‘hooligans’ but was determined to send President Emmanuel Macron a message on the rising costs of living.

‘He has to come down off his pedestal,’ she said under cold rain on the Champs Elysees. ‘Every month I have to dip into my savings.’

That’s the thing about populist movements,it generally means you’ve pissed everyone off.

    It’s a beautiful thing to behold.http://falfn.com/CrusaderRabbit/wp-content/plugins/wp-monalisa/icons/wpml_yes.gif
And for some very penetrating background on the reasons for it:

  2. KG says:

“Society will develop a new kind of servitude which covers the surface of society with a network of complicated rules, through which the most original minds and the most energetic characters cannot penetrate. It does not tyrannise but it compresses, enervates, extinguishes, and stupefies a people, till each nation is reduced to nothing better than a flock of timid and industrious animals, of which the government is the shepherd.”

    ― Alexis de Tocqueville

    Then there is this-

I think the term “neo-nazi” in this case is a smear,I think those men are just patriots tired of seeing their homeland destroyed.

This song is from 1984, a deliberate choice of the year to record the song? no idea, but it fits. And more so now in this time, when events are moving faster.

  5. Warren Tooley says:

This is the thing with Socialism. It sounds absolutely great, until you get hit with a higher tax, or higher prices. Once you start to pay, its not so great is it?

    • Pascal says:

      Try this Warren

      • Warren Tooley says:

        Very good Pascal.

        http://falfn.com/CrusaderRabbit/wp-content/plugins/wp-monalisa/icons/wpml_good.gifhttp://falfn.com/CrusaderRabbit/wp-content/plugins/wp-monalisa/icons/wpml_good.gifhttp://falfn.com/CrusaderRabbit/wp-content/plugins/wp-monalisa/icons/wpml_good.gif

Also in regards to morality, we need to add the honest weights argument. That government can spend without adding tax, but it turns into inflation. But Proverbs 11:1 calls it an abomination.

        • Darin says:

Socialism fails the same way Communism fails.

Both systems completely ignore human nature.

          • Warren Tooley says:

Ah yes, Darin this explains something else from 1789 to 1913, America had 3 taxes, a tax on imports, a sales tax and property tax. The exception was a low income tax of 5% in the Civil war.

In almost every year there was a budget surplus. Yet since then, America has had a budget deficit in almost every year since the income tax and other taxes. How is this possible?

One reason is with no income tax and these other taxes, there is an incentive to earn more, and there is no need for family support from the government, when taxes are low. Is this making sense? Its quite a statistic.

            • Darin says:

We could for instance have single payer healthcare, but people don’t want,or don’t think they need to pay for it.When it’s pointed out what would be required to make it work, they no longer support the idea-
              *National photo ID cards*
              *30% sales tax on everything*
*Removing the estimated 18-35million illegal aliens from the system*
              *Banning medical Tort*
              *Banning private insurance companies*
*Banning lawmakers and civil servants from carve outs and exemptions*
              etc,etc,etc…
See,human nature wants the benefit, but not the costs-

              • Warren Tooley says:

Yes that’s partly my point. If we keep government spending low, we can keep taxes low. But when we redistribute, those who are paying, have less money afterwards.

People have an incentive to not try to earn more money, and that’s when we have problems.

    • Pascal says:

Didn’t you mean to write Occasional Cortex?

As for the well of entertainment part, I love to point out that all politicians nowadays are entertainers and that with the demise of circuses, clowns are surely taking a part of the action.

      • Warren Tooley says:

Yeah Pascal, she will achieve occasional relief and entertainment, with long term ruin.

    • Warren Tooley says:

How shall I describe her? Welcome to the United States of Bankruptcy. That’s how I would describe her policies. I don’t think finance or economics is her strength.

Really how on earth, will she pay for all these things? Cause I really don’t know; oh yeah, by borrowing money or printing money of course. And how long will the Arabs and Chinese people keep on lending to the US?

  6. KG says:

‘Delingpole: United States and China Snub United Nations Climate Talks
Despite the utter pointlessness of the shindig, which will achieve nothing other than a final statement wreathed in meaningless platitudes, no fewer than 22,000 delegates will be attending. Each will, of course, be accompanied by their hefty carbon footprint.
…..The UK’s delegation is led by Claire Perry, and consists of 52 bureaucrats.
NGOs are sending more than 6000, all designed to put pressure on elected politicians. For some reason, there does not appear to be anybody representing ordinary people’s interests!…’

  7. Warren Tooley says:

22,000 is a large number, and not representing ordinary people.
