    John Ioannidis reported in 2005 that most published medical research findings are false. 1 His statistical analysis and logic are impeccable and his paper has never been seriously refuted. Furthermore, he has had a tremendous impact: the paper has been viewed more than 2.5 million times.
    In 2009, Dr. Marcia Angell, former editor of the New England Journal of Medicine, wrote that, “It is simply no longer possible to believe much of the clinical research that is published, or to rely on the judgment of trusted physicians or authoritative medical guidelines. I take no pleasure in this conclusion, which I reached slowly and reluctantly over my two decades as an editor.”

    • One of the problems with medical research is that they can’t do much anymore as the Ethics Committees severely limit what they can do. Most of the stuff is now “studies” of massive multi centre populations reviewing outcomes of treatment modes. Some have turned up interesting results. The Vioxx (an NSAID) study being one of the first which demonstrated long term use resulted in a 4x increased risk of acute myocardial infarction compared to one of the older drugs. There were other shenanigans by Merck the pharmaceutical co. involved.

    • I’ve run into a lot of anti-American sentiment since moving here. The far left socialists are the worst. They hate that anyone can get rich in Capitalism.

    • I was caught up in it last night. No communication, no plan, no one in control. Then when they decided to let the stranded passengers through customs they seemed to have forgotten to clear up the water in biosecurity so 1 single worker arrived with a squeegee and pushed the water around for an hour before the proper machines arrived – and everybody still waited. Tourists were moved out of the baggage terminal onto the apron where a bitterly cold wind was blowing. They had no food, water or toilet facilities. Likewise the thousands of those waiting outside to go through the departure hall and those waiting for the to collect relatives.       • It’s obviously an internal struggle being settled the Saudi way. If MBS was Obama’s mate then it would not even have made the news.

        • Khashoggi was muslim brotherhood and a double dealing spy,that the Saudi prince had him wacked is a good thing and I think it was also meant to be seen as a message to the MB.
          And yes,this is Saudi inside sports and we should stay out of it.
