‘New rules mean every NZ rental home must have a heater’

‘New Government rules will require every rental home in New Zealand to have a heater in the living room and an extractor fan in the kitchen and bathroom.
..The Green Party has welcomed the new rules, but the Green Building Council said they were not quite good enough.
..The standards set minimum requirements for heating, insulation, ventilation, moisture and drainage, as well as rules to stop draughts, in all residential rental properties across the country.
…Kitchens and bathrooms will have to have extraction fans or rangehoods and, where rental homes have an enclosed subfloor space, property owners will need to install a ground moisture barrier to stop moisture rising into the home.
…(Housing Minister) Twyford:
“The Ministry of Health says 6000 children are admitted each year for ‘housing-sensitive hospitalisations’.”
He said these children had been found to be nearly four times more likely to be re-hospitalised and 10 times more likely to die in the following 10 years…’
SHOW US THE METHODOLOGY USED TO ARRIVE AT THOSE FIGURES!

All this will do is make renting far, far more expensive because many landlords will simply get out of the market. What’s more, the heater spoken of will almost certainly have to be electric since the greens want log fires banned – and the cost of electricity is staggeringly high in NZ, so much so that many people can’t afford to heat their homes already. This lunacy from an illegitimate “government” will backfire spectacularly. But then, socialism is almost always more about virtue-signalling than real results in the real world for the people they claim to care so much about, eh?

These people belong to the ideologies that brought you the mass-murders of the “Cultural Revolution” and 50m preventable deaths from malaria, remember. Evil bastards with idiot followers.

  1. According to an Otago paper, this will take place in 2021. So if people don’t vote for Labour and the Greens maybe it won’t occur.

    • KG says:

Maybe, Warren. Kiwis might have learned a lesson by then.

Don’t get your hopes up, guys. On recent polling leaderless National isn’t going to beat these Socialists, and I wouldn’t trust Winston Peters as far as I could kick; he’ll probably vote for CGT. I never thought he would go with these Socialists but he did.

  2. MacDoctor says:

“Housing sensitive hospitalizations” just means respiratory illnesses and asthma. This does not mean that these 6000 hospitalizations won’t happen, it means there might be some reduction in admissions. Not many, I would imagine, because the folk most effected by this live in crowded households where the adults all smoke, the windows are rarely opened for ventilation, windowsills and wall are not cleaned regularly to prevent black algae and carpets and curtains seldom cleaned to prevent house dust mite.

Let’s push more landlords out of the rental market for no practical gain, I’m sure these folk will do well in someone’s garage or in a tent…

Strongly suggest a bartender friend AOC 4 y’all. Pretty sure she can solve that green problem in our 57th steak.

  6. Warren Tooley says:

Guys I have a little bit of good news. Their is one Mayor in New Zealand who will not commit to any changes in regards to Climate Change. She will be conservative with the ciy’s funds.

So as Auckland is becoming crowded I think I’ll move there. This was from the Taxpayer’s Union, I’m a member of it and proud of it.

    • Michael in Nelson says:

Considering the heavily Green attitudes in the T-C region, the mayor has shown unusual courage for a politician.

      • Warren Tooley says:

Well in that case it looks like maybe they’ve done things green and have said we’ve done enough, so let’s leave it at that. She’s said something along those lines.
