   In a letter to Gov. Doug Ducey of Arizona, the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons (AAPS) presents a frequently updated table of studies that report results of treating COVID-19 with the anti-malaria drugs chloroquine (CQ) and hydroxychloroquine (HCQ, Plaquenil®).

   To date, the total number of reported patients treated with HCQ, with or without zinc and the widely used antibiotic azithromycin, is 2,333, writes AAPS, in observational data from China, France, South Korea, Algeria, and the U.S. Of these, 2,137 or 91.6 percent improved clinically. There were 63 deaths, all but 11 in a single retrospective report from the Veterans Administration where the patients were severely ill.

   The antiviral properties of these drugs have been studied since 2003. Particularly when combined with zinc, they hinder viral entry into cells and inhibit replication. They may also prevent overreaction by the immune system, which causes the cytokine storm responsible for much of the damage in severe cases, explains AAPS. HCQ is often very helpful in treating autoimmune diseases such as lupus and rheumatoid arthritis.

     I have a problem with all these studies and their patient selection. Very few people with Wuflu die. Giving it to usually healthy “not at risk” patients will have great cure rates. The hint here is when it was given to the severely ill VA patients. That said I am not against giving it to everyone as it seems to shorten the illness and as a result will probably save lives, and that it probably works best when given early. I’d use it myself even if I had a prolonged QT syndrome! I’d just have a pacing machine nearby!! We’d know how effective it is if there was a statistically significant, double-blinded trial with a properly matched control group. This would take time and large numbers of patients.

       While we are waiting for the long term study, we could, discount the numbers that are otherwise healthy and take it, along with the at deaths door crowd and maybe focus on the patients who were rapidly worsening and about to go on ventilator and saw their symptoms reversed by it. To me that would give us the best gauge of what the potential is.

         I think you’d really need to start it early. Put all at risk patients on it early? Remdisivir would probably be your best choice for the “at deaths doorstep” group. Just saying.

           That seems to be the key, starting early, waiting until they start crashing has proven to be a death sentence.

   When I linked to this in Open House the site moved the actual video to a download because YouTube had removed it. I refound it on Vimeo. This one is actually named PLANdemic. After this is accepted as true, there’s no way the main culprit’s name should not forever be spelled F A U X I.

     Most people are so decency oriented they cannot see the message this monster is sending to future healthcare workers who answer calls for help. So let me translate his words.

     ‘Didn’t you rocket scientists notice that I forced nursing homes to accept COVID-19 patients? Haven’t you yet figured out that had the intended effect of hastening the demise of old, useless eaters? [I’ve let others like Zeke Emanuel say it for me.] Well, because you were so dense and came here to thwart me by lessening the death toll you will have to pay a penalty. Be grateful it’s only a tax. I certainly hope others will read this warning and next time not come.’
