My commenting will be restricted for a while. I had a bad gall bladder attack (impacted stone) on Thursday night. I spent until 5:00 pm Friday in hospital when the Medicos decided it wasn’t bad enough to operate. I am recovering at home but it looks to be a slow process. I’ll still visit so don’t go quiet on me.

My father-in-law had something similar. He would have benefitted from a cholecystectomy but was denied it because his age put him at the bottom of the list. Age 72! For the next 15 years he had repeated attacks of cholecystitis, antibiotics, stents put in and removed, etc. Eventually he just lost the will to live and died during one of his attacks.
Michael, you have made a good decision to go private. Get well soon.

There is nothing more convincing that the Republican Party were involved in the election fraud than the silence from them as the J6 American citizens are imprisoned “as an example” of what will happen if one challenges the DC corruptocrats. So many law abiding citizens having their lives destroyed beyond measure.
That’s the biggest thing I haven’t been able to understand, the lack of screaming and yelling from Republicans and civil rights groups. These people’s rights (due process, cruel & unusual punishment, speedy trial etc.) have been trampled on for over two years. I didn’t see anything in the reporting on the recent debate about any of the candidates mentioning them (right-wing pundits aren’t saying much either).

All those hours of tape that would show the whole protest was a set up that McCarthy promised to release?? What does the swamp have over them? Even here in NZ where not one of the party leaders will mention the vaxx let alone acknowledge any harm. Bribery? Threats of violence against them or their families?
It’s team politics, the GOP and DNC establishment (which covers 90% of elected members) are both playing for the same team (themselves) and we the people are not on it. That was Trump’s only “crime” he’s not on their team either.
And make no mistake, no blackmail is required, they truly do look down on us with disdain. That’s one reason among many why I knew we were getting screwed with McCarthy being selected as house speaker. The fix is in, his job is to co-opt and rein in any attempts to gain traction against the team. That’s why he’s doing absolutely nothing in regards to Biden.
As pointed out by somebody yesterday, remember, Nancy Pelosi as speaker got Trump impeached twice in four years.Yet McCarthy has yet to even file the paper work on Biden.

It’s a difficult one. Wealthy people with cancer often end up with charlatans bleeding them dry with alternative treatments that do not extend their lives at all. This young girl wants public funding for something I would guess the clinicians know about and advise against either because it is hocus pocus or is experimental and has not shown much success. The NHS despite all the criticism is often at the leading edge of therapeutic breakthroughs. They have some clever people and some well funded research.
Recently I was having a discussion with a colleague about mitochondrial disease, how little is known about it and that there is really nothing to treat it with.

I hope that works for Gecko. Ed Bonderenka was provided a log in ID but still hasn’t been able to get in. And both you and Michael often have your comments sent to trash. I seems WordPress has made it difficult for readers to comment here. So many former commenters have not been around in quite some time.
We have lost a lot of commenters which is a pity. I see Redbaiter occasionally comments on the NZ National Party oriented Kiwiblog in the run up to the elections. I find that there are just too many blogs/substacks/alternative news sites that I spend too much time on.
I think I figured it out. WordPress installed a Captcha plugin and didn’t bother to tell me. So I deactivated that one plugin and that looks like it did the trick for Gecko.
The biggest problem here, is there is no real time support for WP. Getting a straight answer from them is like pulling teeth and usually the answer is “ya, we can do that, but you might lose everything in your archives”
I did recently get an invite from X aka Twitter , which a verified account with all it’s features is slightly less than what Blue Host is charging me now for CR. It is tempting and going forward, X might be big enough to knock heads with Google when Google inevitably drops the censorship hammer again.
