‘Three Rs too much for some teachers’

‘Some teachers are so lacking in literacy and numeracy skills that they cannot write adequate reports or do primary-school-level maths, secondary principals say.
Secondary Principals’ Association president Patrick Walsh said principals were concerned that, despite the number of serious incompetency problems being reported, few teachers were being deregistered. How did they graduate? Who checked their qualifications and abilities? Most of all, why is no bureaucrat ever held to account and penalised for failure to do what we pay them for?
