The headline is a little misleading– the spending wasn’t just at “Wellington’s top restaurants”. NZ is a tiny Pacific country with a population of a little over 4 million and of those four million, very few are actually earning the money to pay for these excesses. Those few are being squeezed by the welfare bludgers on one hand and a cozy “in” club of so-called public servants with an extravagant entitlement mentality on the other.
