Libel reform vows to slay anonymous trolls
Single complaint could take down a post
A single complaint about an anonymous article or posting online could be enough to legally force a website to take it down – if new Parliamentary proposals on defamation get passed into law.
Measures against online anonymity are a key part of proposals published today in a committee report that will be debated when Parliament votes on changing the UK’s defamation laws…’
This has stuff-all to do with shutting down anonymous trolls and everything to do with making it too dangerous and expensive to exercise free speech.
And the language is misleading…a post or anonymous article isn’t trolling, any more than the vast majority of anonymous comments are.

We already see the media censoring public opinion when they run an article and then turn off comments. Now I guess they want to make it official. And by god I’ll bet it will only be certain views that will be considered offensive or slanderous.

You bet it will, Darin. The left’s definition of free speech is free speech for leftists.

In just the same way that The Religion of Peace is indeed a religion of peace for the Muslims (and very definitely not for the kuffar).

If it gets implemented, make sure you and your friends complain about every single post on every lefty blog. ;-)
