Can’t have somebody contradicting the official spin…

‘A blogger has been barred from sending updates on the Rena salvage operation after posting a string of behind-the-scenes insights into the disaster and the perils and logistics of the salvage.
…But the blogger signed off on Thursday after a New Zealand regulatory agency objected and he was warned of a non-disclosure clause in his contract. The posts were being followed in New Zealand, Australia, Southeast Asia, Russia and Scotland…’   source

Well it’s a shame they shut him down,it’s great to have somebody that can give a blow by blow account of something like this. The media always screws up the details.

12months?We had a salvage crew here that cleaned off a Panamax container ship in 4 months and those are a bit bigger than the Rena.

I wonder how they are unlatching and picking the containers? The photos don’t yield any clues.

Yep, no free speech allowed in New Zealand under the John Key government.

Wouldn’t surprise me to learn this was initiated by someone from the National Party.

    Arse covering commie bastards.

I really do not understand the angst here…. I thought the Rena ‘disaster’ had been handled far better than the Greens (socialist b@st@rds that they are) had whined about. I really do not care if it is taking longer than predicted to remove the containers than estimated. The salvors have removed the fuel and prevented a worse disaster. Why (in heaven’s name) are people still agonising over sealed containers?

The worst has been averted. Go whine somewhere else!

    “Go whine somewhere else!”
You mean somewhere other than on my own site? What the “whining” is about is the attempt by this government to control the flow of information.

The guy signed a non-disclosure agreement, didn’t get a waiver from his employer and then blogged in an identity-disclosing way.

    Now there’s silly, look you.
