Experts “horrified” by a simple truth:

‘BULLY victims have their over-protective parents to blame and should fight back with their fists.
American human behavioural specialist Dr John Demartini said parents of bullied children need to back off and let them take greater control of their lives.
…..”You have to teach the child the truth. If you teach them a fantasy world where we are all meant to be nice and get along, they will not appreciate how life really is.”
Anti-bullying experts were horrified Dr Demartini would advocate returning violence with violence…’
“Horrified”, are they…well, bullying is at epidemic levels, so those same “experts” haven’t done a whole lot of good with their theories, have they? Let’s give the old-fashioned way a chance–it worked for Wabbit, it’s worked for a couple of centuries, until the dweeby academic pricks stuck their noses in.

100% correct, dealing with Bullies the old fashioned way builds character that lasts a lifetime.

    • Kris K says:

Indeed, Darin – and not just for the victim either.

There have been many a bully who in later life admitted the best thing that ever happened to them was receiving a dose of their own medicine. It gave them a chance to re-evaluate their world-view and turn it around, rather than get to adulthood and end up spending much of it in prison with the unlikely prospect of ever becoming good citizens, let alone good fathers and role-models.

Agreed. I have always taught my kids to never hit first but to always hit back.
I’ll give you an example though of how hitting back is treated these days by the schools.
A boy I know was being picked on by another kid who thought he was an easy touch. Now this boy is not small and not one to be messed with, although he is quiet and not a bully.
The kid who was dong the picking on wouldn’t let up even when he was warned by the quiet boy that he would get it if he didn’t lay off. After a while the quiet boy got sick of being pushed around so he punched the bully and decked him with one blow. No serious damage done, just enough to let the bully know to leave him alone. Guess which boy got sent home for four days detention. Yep, the quiet boy who was being bullied. Says it all really.

School Teacher detective work resulting in school teacher logic as to the perpetrator of the cime.

    Who is surprised?

  4. Cadwallader says:

Agree. Stare them down and give them a clout. I recall a You Tube item from earlier this year when a fat kid named Casey got his own back on a taunting little piece of shit. He picked up the little shit and dropped him. The outrage from some quarters was vivid but the majority of comments on blogs were “good on Casey.”

  5. Darin says:

Yes,and I would also point out those same sort of “experts” mentioned in the article are the sort who have fouled up the criminal justice system. The victims have been taught to be silent and nice and the criminals get coddled which only encourages more criminal behavior.

  6. KG says:

    Thanks for the great comments.
Isn’t it odd, that the views of these experts are obviously, demonstrably a failure, yet they persist?
Having built a career on bullshit, I guess backtracking would require some principles and courage–and a loss of income and prestige. Never mind the damage they do to kids…

Taught me boy that we don’t START fights- we FINISH them.

  8. MK says:

Fighting back won’t necessarily mean the bully will back off, he might whip your ass anyway, however if you manage to punch the bastard in the nose, kick him in the balls, shins etc, you might hurt him at least a bit. That way he won’t be all that keen to come after you, seeing as how he won’t walk away unscathed.

    • KG says:

That’s the truth. As soon as bullying isn’t guaranteed to be cost-free, the bully will look for an easier target.
