Globalization–the death of the middle class?
‘..The reality is that no matter how smart, how strong, how educated or how hard working American workers are, they just cannot compete with people who are desperate to put in 10 to 12 hour days at less than a dollar an hour on the other side of the world. After all, what corporation in their right mind is going to pay an American worker ten times more (plus benefits) to do the same job? The world is fundamentally changing. Wealth and power are rapidly becoming concentrated at the top and the big global corporations are making massive amounts of money. Meanwhile, the American middle class is being systematically wiped out of existence as U.S. workers are slowly being merged into the new “global” labor pool.
………In 1950, the ratio of the average executive’s paycheck to the average worker’s paycheck was about 30 to 1. Since the year 2000, that ratio has exploded to between 300 to 500 to one.
……..In the United States, the average federal worker now earns 60% MORE than the average worker in the private sector…’ source
Queensland flood crisis ‘long way from over’
‘QUEENSLAND’S flood crisis has affected 200,000 people over an area bigger than France and Germany combined, and it’s not over yet, says Premier Anna Bligh.
The disaster is still unfolding today in the inland town of Emerald, while the coastal city of Rockhampton is expected to be devastated within days.
In all, 22 towns or cities have been inundated or isolated by the massive floods…’
The houses in the pic are obviously part of a modern housing development….one wonders if the buyers were informed beforehand that the area was susceptible to flooding? A hell of a lot of people who moved to Queensland from the Southern states have been ripped off by unscrupulous developers and complicit local councils.
The Top Three Tea Party Questions
Karl Uppiano:
‘If you are a part of the Tea Party movement, you might sometimes wonder, “What can I do?” Well, you can memorize, or print out and carry in your pocket, these three questions:
1. Which article of the Constitution gives government the authority to do this?
2. How does this help reduce the deficit and balance the budget?
3. Why does this have to be mandatory and not voluntary?
It matters not what the topic may be; these three questions are fundamental. Include them in every political conversation you have with your family, friends, neighbors, and especially with your elected representatives. Tea Party activists nationwide can lead the effort to make sure politicians will not step out of their offices without credible answers to these questions, on any issue whatsoever.’
high crimes and misdemeanours:
‘Violating its own guarantee of unprecedented transparency, the White House is blocking an investigation into the controversial firing of an inspector general who exposed one of President Obama’s political supporters-a California mayor-for misusing federal funds.
First Lady Michelle Obama was reportedly behind the contentious June dismissal of AmeriCorps Inspector General Gerald Walpin and congressional investigators want to interview the aide (Jackie Norris) who may have given the order…’ source
Memo to Green Party’s Keith Locke: Go screw yourself.
‘Greens attack SAS over deadly raid
The Green Party has called on New Zealand’s troops to stay in Afghanistan no longer than March, as a picture was released of one of the men killed in a bungled raid involving the SAS.
….Green Party foreign affairs spokesman Keith Locke was critical of the NZDF for not revealing earlier the SAS’s part in the raid.
“We shouldn’t have to wait for a British journalist to uncover the New Zealand involvement from an eyewitness,” he said.
“Once again we have been reliant on foreign media to tell us what our SAS is doing in Afghanistan.
“The excessive secrecy around such operations has limited the much-needed public debate about whether our troops should stay there.”
The debacle gave weight to the call to pull the SAS out of Afghanistan.”
This limp-wristed piece of shit has no idea of the circumstances surrounding the operation. And I wonder if the whining little coprolite would regard the secrecy as “excessive” if his sorry flabby ass relied on it in order to survive? Locke, you make me puke.
Go and read this before opening your whining, lying hypocritical trap.
And THIS May we expect an apology sometime soon? No, thought not… *spit*
Indigenous frolics:
‘Teen accused of assaulting 1-year-old
A 17-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly assaulting a 1-year-old child and stabbing a 26-year-old woman with a fork in Kaikohe overnight.
Northland police Inspector Clifford Paxton said the child sustained a broken arm and bruising to the head.
The 17-year-old male is to appear in the Kaikohe District Court today to face charges also relating to previous domestic violence incidents, including male assaults female, assault with intent to injure, wounds with intent to injure and threatens to kill.’ source
Given the nature of the (alleged) offences and the location (Kaikohe) it’s a penny to a pound that the (alleged) offender is a maori. Life on welfare, eh…..never a shortage of things to do. There are kids to assault, cars to steal, homes to burglarize and dope to smoke and sell. It’s that “post-colonial stress syndrome” one of their leaders was talking about, obviously. They’re victims.
‘Is the Republican Party Finished?
…….The last two weeks ought to have sickened conservatives. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell spectacularly failed to hold his caucus together to even delay ratification of the START treaty until the 112th Congress is seated in January. Republican leftists Olympia Snowe and Lisa Murkowski sided with Democrats to end the military’s “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy, forcing the gay agenda from the streets of San Francisco right into the U.S. Marine Corps. Congressional Republicans agreed to cut FICA taxes for Social Security (which is underfunded already) and expand the Democratic Party’s welfare state constituency by extending unemployment benefits — in exchange for maintaining current tax rates for a paltry two years. The deal will add billions to the deficit. Tea Party darling Scott Brown, mocked by Obama for driving a truck in his insurgent 2009 campaign in which he stole “Ted Kennedy’s seat” from the Democrats, voted for Obama’s agenda on all of these issues…’ source
‘Study questions date of Maori arrival in NZ’
Bawaahahaha! This is delicious!
‘Research showing Maori may have reached New Zealand later than previously believed may have implications for the Waitangi Tribunal, a New Zealand historian says.
…..AUT University History Professor, Paul Moon said the study might have “far-reaching implications for Maori oral history”.
Maori oral histories which recall lists of ancestors have been used to date the first arrival in New Zealand as early as 800 AD, Dr Moon said.
“If these Maori whakapapa [genealogies] are out by over five hundred years, then this must raise questions about their reliability.
“If Maori reached New Zealand waters just 300 years before the first Europeans, some people might also start to reconsider the idea of Maori being indigenous.”
…However, Api Mahuika of Ngati Porou told Radio New Zealand he did not think the study was the last word in scientific research on New Zealand settlement and would continue to believe in the oral tradition.‘ source
I bet he will–why ruin a good and lucrative scam with mere science, eh? And obviously, brown belief must be superior to carbon dating. yessir. These primitives are not “indigenous people”–they’re merely (maybe) the first immigrants.
