In a blistering rebuke of the Supreme Court decision to overturn the Defense of Marriage Act, Justice Antonin Scalia said the self-governing power of the people has been eroded.
“Some will rejoice in today’s decision, and some will despair at it; that is the nature of a controversy that matters so much to so many,” Scalia concluded. “But the Court has cheated both sides, robbing the winners of an honest victory, and the losers of the peace that comes from a fair defeat. We owed both of them better. I dissent.”
and:
“It is an assertion of judicial supremacy over the people’s Representatives in Congress and the Executive. It envisions a Supreme Court standing (or rather enthroned) at the apex of government, empowered to decide all constitutional questions, always and everywhere “primary” in its role.”

And no peanut shells and beer stains left on the fine persian rugs this time, ok?

All he needs is the mirrored shades and a chestful of fake medals….
Delingpole on warmists:
“…there’s only one side in this debate which considers it acceptable or desirable to:
Rig public enquiries, hound blameless people out of their jobs, breach Freedom of Information laws, abuse the scientific method, lie, threaten, bribe, cheat, adopt nakedly political positions in taxpayer-funded academic and advisory posts that ought to be strictly neutral, trample on property rights, destroy rainforests, drive up food prices (causing unrest in the Middle East and starvation in the Third World), raise taxes, remove personal freedoms, artificially raise energy prices, featherbed rent-seekers, blight landscapes, deceive voters, twist evidence, force everyone to use expensive, dim light bulbs, frighten schoolchildren, bully adults, increase unemployment, destroy democratic accountability, take control of global governance and impose a New World Order…”
‘Why we Fight’
A gutless society.
The problem:
‘NURSES are arming themselves with makeshift weapons for protection while walking to and from work at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital. They are carrying scissors, hairspray cans and whistles as they walk alone through the Parklands to their homes and cars, following four sexual assaults in North Adelaide in the past two years…’
The police response:
‘Superintendent Anthony Fioravanti said police did not encourage people carrying personal weapons. “Carrying an item expressly for the purpose of self-protection may lead to a person being charged,” he said…’
If police fail in their primary duty – fail to serve and protect – then people have every right to take whatever measures are necessary to protect themselves. My message to the bureaucop and his masters is a simple “fuck you“. You may quote law and statistics all you like, but you have no moral right whatsoever to threaten people for simply defending themselves.
FFS!
A New Zealand columnist has written a piece of garbage in the NZ Herald justifying Julia Gillard’s playing of the gender card. The item itself is vomitous enough, but the comments section shows just far down the slimy PC slope Kiwis have slid.
Chronic back pain?
This is interesting:
‘A group of researchers in Denmark recently discovered a 90-day course of antibiotics led to a 75% success rate in reducing or eliminating lower back pain for 29 patients who completed the study.
All participants had been diagnosed with a herniated disc and modic changes (MRI indicated swelling of vertebral bone tissue) in an earlier study. The working theory, now being tested in a larger study, is anaerobic bacterial infection in the patients’ herniated disc tissue led to inflammation and lower back pain…’
