‘After President Obama’s big call for “executive action” on gun control at today’s press conference, Rep. Steve Stockman (R-TX) has threatened to move for impeachment of the president if he insists on harsh gun measures through that mechanism. Said Stockman, ““I will seek to thwart this action by any means necessary, including but not limited to eliminating funding for implementation, defunding the White House, and even filing articles of impeachment.”
Stockman continued, “Any proposal to abuse executive power and infringe upon gun rights must be repelled with the stiffest legislative force possible. Under no circumstances whatsoever may the government take any action that disarms any peaceable person — much less without due process through an executive declaration without a vote of Congress or a ruling of a court …. If the president is allowed to suspend constitutional rights on his own personal whims, our free republic has effectively ceased to exist.”..’     Breitbart

    I am glad something finally lit a fire under our representatives on this. The reality is that Obama has already acted unconstitutionally on several issues, including education and immigration, both of which exhibited a yawn from the House. Who knows, maybe this vast overreach by the left is a gift horse to the right.

      Indeed, as Bismarck said, “Iron and Blood” – the division between the Right and the Left in the USA is as wide as Grand Canyon, and compromise has broken down.

      Also, the Republican Establishment has proven yet again that appeasement simply will not work…in fact, serves only to encourage the traitor – Left.

      Anyhow, how can any American believe this country can exist half free and half slave? Didn’t we try that once upon a time?

    I hope like hell if this gun grab is defeated, that conservatives don’t just breathe a sigh of relief and go back to apathetic acceptance of business as usual. The need to stake out a ground and actively promote it.
    Even worse, if a watered-down set of laws passes they might feel that “at least it’s not as bad as it could have been” and go back to sleep. That’s how leftist incrementalism finally wins.
    They have to attack the statists at every opportunity and keep attacking them, and to be sure they don’t mistake a tactical withdrawal on the part of the leftists as a win. It never is.

      There was a time in history that Great Britain needed arms to defend its citizens. The miracle of Dunkirk had just occurred at Britain found itself with a tiger at her door waiting to cross the English channel. The citizens of Great Britain were desperate to defend their homes from invasion, but they did not have enough firearms to give them and so citizens patrolled the beaches with farming implements. Even the police were mostly unarmed.

      Britain turned to the one source that she knew would help, the United States. A call went out to the citizens of that nation from the National Rifle Association to its members, if you have spare arms Britain needs them to defend herself. Everything from national match rifles to pistols were collected and thousands of arms from private citizens were shipped to Britain so that her people could defend themselves from the Nazis.

      Doubtless there were many of those arms that were melted down when Britain collected arms from her citizens in order to disarm them. If Great Britain ever finds the barbarians at the gates again, who will she turn to in her hour of need should America follow her example? Worse, the same people who decry that the American citizen be disarmed for their own good will be the same people who will, with hands clasped before their breasts, be begging for arms once more when that day comes.
