Who said this?

Just the other day:
‘..Contemporary Australia has well and truly – and rightly – left behind the old cult of forgetfulness about our indigenous heritage. Alas, there is a new version of the great Australian silence – this time about the Western canon, the literature, the poetry, the music, the history and above all the faith without which our culture and our civilisation are unimaginable…’

Can anybody even imagine Julia Gillard giving such a speech?

Nobody has answered yet. I’ll keep looking back to this thread- if (and when) I do decide/attempt to become an Australian it’s need to know stuff.

Before I cut/paste the quote I’ll guess Keith Windschuttle :?:

Nah, mate–all you need to know to become Australian under this government is the ‘phone number of the Australian Navy taxi service and the address of the nearest Centrelink office.
