N.Z. “justice”. Again.

‘Police appeal discharge for mother who left kids in casino carpark’
The appeal failed:
‘..Justice Peter Woodhouse found the District Court judge did not make an error of law.
He said the conviction would not only affect the woman’s future study and employment in social work but could have impacted on other areas of her life.
He said that while Judge Fraser had not recorded some of the factors that went into his decision, he had to make his decision and give his judgement in a busy court room…’
First, the woman had only expressed a desire to study to become a social worker, nothing else. Second, of course an effing conviction would impact “on other areas of her life”! That’s what criminal convictions tend to do.
Third, since when was a judgement given in a “busy court room” grounds for dismissing an appeal against that judgement?
These bastards have totally lost the plot.
This site makes interesting reading, on the subject of NZ judges.

I think it’s the ‘social work’ that clinched the release. Nothing gets lefties all hot and excited like a few phrases about “helping”.

  2. Pix says:

The police must be starting to think “Why bother”. What is the point of charging people for neglecting children in such a way if there is to be no punishment. They were in the casino on a Sunday morning gambling with 5 children locked in the car. The youngest was only 8 months old. Disgusting!

  3. Findalis says:

When the kids die from heat stroke/exhaustion will she get off again crying I want to study social work?

  4. dondiego says:

The “man” (to whitey connotes Responsibility/adulthood) copped $132 court costs. Probably pissed twice that on the wall and half again on the pokies.

That whole suggested intention bullshit means NOTHING. Actions speak louder etc.

But I guess in N.Z a useless breeder who finds money for piss and pokies before a babysitter is the epitome of inclusive feelgoodiness and a perfect role-model/ candidate for social work.

The site you refer to is years overdue.

The words “social work” and worse “social worker” would be the most pointless and meaningless terms in what now passes for the English language. Aren’t we all social workers whether we do heart surgery or sweep roadsides?

    Absolutely!
