No video from the big Gettysburg reenactment yet, since it’s still going on.But I thought I would post this one that happened last December to commemorate the 150th anniversary of Fredricksburg since it was really a preview of what Gettysburg would later be.

Fredricksburg was a demonstration of the Union’s weaknesses and the one sided victory there led to Lee continuing north.
Unfortunately the Battle of Gettysburg destroyed Lee’s advance and the Confederacy’s chance at victory.
I often wonder what would have happened had Jackson not died at Chancellorsville. His death was a terrible blow for the Confederacy.
Stonewall Jackson was a fine man and great General. His loss created a tactical vacuum for the Confederacy.
As short bit about General Jackson and why I find myself admiring this man.

I remember seeing (in the mid-90s IIRC) the well-known nine-part series on the Civil War. *Really* interesting – it had me hooked. It played on Saturday mornings around 10am and was a must-see.
One of the things that fascinated me was some of the names of the Confederates – you’d see things like “Theophilus so-and-so”.
I thought that was great!
Great stuff! Thanks for posting that, Darin.
Your more than welcome KG,the reenactors do a really good job. Most all of it is on their own dime too.
I went to a small one in Vicksburg one year, probably wasn’t more than a 100 reenactors there. What was neat to see were all the kids that turned out, nothing like getting a living history lesson complete with gunsmoke and artillery fire.
Damn right.
Government run “public’ education

God help us……..
@KG:
I ripped you off!
http://ronbosoldier.blogspot.com/2013/07/obamas-moron-voter-base-exposed-on-you.html
Like I said before, the right to vote and hold office should be limited to veterans with Honorable Discharges and those who do other dangerous public service jobs like street cops and fire fighters – an open-to-all oligarchy based on merit, intelligence and bravery.
Otherwise, the votes of the rational and productive are more than cancelled by idiots like those in the video.
Sad, isn’t it Ronbo, that clowns such as those in the video get to vote.
The tyranny of the idiot majority…..
I don’t know if these people even vote.Think about it,if they are that clueless do they even know there is an election every four years?

The Chamberlains are still a well-know family in Maine and have some wonderful boat designers and builders among them.
The nicest wooden boat I ever built was a beautiful little Chamberlain dory.
If I had to live anywhere on the East Coast it would be Maine, lots of good people up there.
Somebody sent me this vid of a guided tour at Little Round Top.Gives a feel for the events of that day and a good lay of the land.Battle lines 6 miles long

What an amazing defence.. Just leaves me in awe of the man, and those he commanded.
