NZ: ‘…Coroner McElrea did not make any recommendations, but said he would seek advice from police national headquarters on whether law changes were necessary.’
Police always want more laws and those laws are very often anti-liberty. Bloody coroners need to be reminded who pays their salaries and who they work for.

    From Ace of Spades
Justice Breyer Pens a Remarkable Dissent in the Campaign Finance Case, Arguing that Free Expression is a Collective Right to be Permitted Only to the Extent It Furthers the “Will of the People”

One egregious excerpt from quite a lot bovine Prog excrement.

Free Expression is a Collective Right to be Permitted Only to the Extent It Furthers the “Will of the People”

Breyer, and the 3 female Progs who signed on to his dissent, of course invoke “Will of the People” in the same manner that all those communist Republic’s were (and still are) “People’s” republics.

How is our situation different? The coup of the “free world” has been nearly a silent one as the majority of our fellow citizens refused and continue to refuse to acknowledge the incremental inroads of the Progs.

Damn those Progs! Had they only the decency to openly appear as Morloks, maybe so many of the rest of us wouldn’t be looking like Eloi now.

If there’s one single thing free speech isn’t, then that thing is a collective right!
Every individual has the right to free speech, even in the face of the rest of his fellows. Either that, or the right doesn’t exist.
How can somebody sitting on the Supreme Court get it so wrong?

      • Pascal says:

Answer: He and his ilk have an agenda. Period.

The Prog’s, disguised as republicans, gave him a pass back when Clinton nominated him. That is quite simply the best explanation for Breyer being okayed by an 85 to 9 ratification. His written history prior to nomination makes any claim that “I didn’t know” beyond credible. Yes, Senators can be stupid; but they know how to play dumb when dumb is required by their backers.

I must be really thick. I fail to understand how anyone with the smallest knowledge of the Constitution and Bill of Rights could have made such a statement. That it was made by a member of the highest court designed to preserve the rights enumerated therein beggars belief!

      • Pascal says:

Not only A member of the highest court. His dissent was endorsed by 3 other Progs on that highest court. Understand the Prog agenda and you understand that the oaths to which they swore on entering that bench was a lie in pursuit of that agenda.

“Free speech” is not “free beer”. It’s not “Free parking”. It’s not a “free lunch”.

Free speech is speech that promotes freedom

beginning. end. speech by loyalists / leftists / communists / unionists / terrorist (eco-terrorists, econo-terrorists, race terrorists) promotes chaos, not freedom.

There is no “right” in the US or anywhere else to shout “fire” in a theatre, to incite riots, to lead rebellions, to form unions, or promote socialism.

The only rational response to such “speech” is that guaranteed by the second amendment: not the first – a bullet to the back of the head!

Speaking of Coroners, how about one tried and convicted of corruption that managed to stiff the taxpayers for his legal defense?

At least this coroner is asking for advice. Normally, they just come up with any old crackpot suggestion that generates so much media static that we overlook the sneaky little anti-liberty tweaks to the law that the police make a few weeks later, because, in comparison to the coroner’s waffle, it sounds superficially reasonable.

    • KG says:

Just so, MacDoctor. I’m not sure what it is about coroners – they have a deal of power and perhaps it goes to the heads of many of them.

( did notice the ad for the semi-auto in .308 at the bottom of the page, though. )

Immigration. I live in a “leafy” suburb in Auckland with my darling sister nearby who is also a hostess queen amongst the lefty darlings who inhabit this burb. No jab intended, she is a wonderful woman and I love her dearly. But parties are quite fascinating and most amusing when I attempt any meaningful discussion about world events. I am surrounded by teachers, lawyers, social workers and bureaucrats who find conIservative thought to be outrageous. These are the people who influence our young. I box on but worry.

    • Andrew Berwick says:

There’s only one kind of “speech” that makes any difference with that lot.

Speech guaranteed by the second amendment, not the first.

  9. KG says:

Nice to see you Mara.
“These are the people who influence our young.”
Aye. I worry too, because we’re already seeing the results and they’re not good.

    • Darin says:

“teachers, lawyers, social workers and bureaucrats”

Mara, take comfort in the fact when at these parties you are the only one in the room who knows how to change a lightbulb.

I refer to them as Pod people as in that old movie Invasion of the Body Snatchers. They look human, but underneath they aren’t.

If human civilization depended on that lot for advancement we would all still be living in caves and if they get their way we will be again.

‘Creativity and non-conformity now listed as a mental illness by psychiatrists
Now thanks to thought policing by the American Psychiatric Association the latest addition of the DSM-IV (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders) is setting up the dominoes for arbitrary diagnosis of any dissenting individuals.
Listed as new mental illnesses are above-average creativity and cynicism. The manual goes on to identify a mental illness called “oppositional defiant disorder” or ODD.
Defined as an “ongoing pattern of disobedient, hostile and defiant behavior,” symptoms include questioning authority, negativity, defiance, argumentativeness, and being easily annoyed…’

And of course it will only apply to those people who disagree with lefty prog policy.
