‘Movie Recommendation: The Arroyo’

Francis Porretto:
Declaration Entertainment is Bill Whittle’s gamble on a chancy proposition, to wit: That there are enough Americans unhappy about Political Correctness’s dominance of American entertainment, particularly American cinema, to step up as “citizen producers” of productions with a more conservative, more patriotic subtext. DE’s first feature-length production, The Arroyo, is now available on DVD.
Gentle Reader, please take the following from one who started out as a doubter: it’s a winner.
You’re unlikely to recognize any of the cast members. You might not be familiar with director Jeremy Boreing. You’ll note the near total absence of special effects. All of this is to be expected from an indie movie; their budgets typically won’t accommodate big names or big CG effects. But you’ll be impressed nonetheless.
The Arroyo, a small movie in most ways, has a big theme: the need for ordinary Americans to rise to the challenges of justice that “our” government and “our” law enforcers appear to disdain. The plot centers on the habitual violation of our southern border by drug traffickers and illegal-alien-shepherding “coyotes.” Protagonist Jim Weatherford takes up arms against those who use his land as a conduit for their vile businesses, and thereby enmeshes himself, his family, and his neighbors in a duel with a drug cartel and its utterly amoral enforcer.’

I watched this movie and it’s well worth the viewing :!:

It gets the Exclusive Five Star Ronbo Rating For Move Excellence.

The only unreal part was the happy conclusion, which is so not going to happen under Obama border “control.”

Hollywood used to make movies like this in the good old days with big name stars, but clearly the future belongs to the independent film makers operating on a modest budget but a big idea and with excellent script/acting.

I would suggest another excellent indie movie that tells the truth about the 50% unemployment rate among young Americans.

The poor girl gets dumped by her family and her only hope for a job is in far away Alaska, and she has to get there from the mid-west using a beat up old car and a few hundred dollars.

I’m frustrated at not being able to buy it on DVD, Ronbo. Our wireless connection is too slow to allow downloading a movie.
And the two-device restriction is stupid, too. A DVD that gets copied and passed around would expose far more people to the conservative film-making idea and surely to hell that’s what’s needed in the longer term?

      BUMMER :!:

I am blessed with an excellent Internet connection and have joined two streaming video services – NETFLIX and AMAZON.

I have access to thousands of movies and TV programs to view 24/7 which is very nice…not tied to a schedule.

So basically you are limited to text, pictures and youtube videos :?:

      • KG says:

        Yep. And it’s expensive.

My hook up is $54.01 per month unlimited usage on Wave Broadband, which would be one movie date for two people in Seattle (to include the popcorn & cokes) – so I think it’s quite a bargain.

But best of all, I have total control over my media and can live happily in my own personal cyber space with nary a look at offensive Leftard programming, as used to be the case in yesteryear.

Speaking of which, I’m so old I can remember only three television channels in B&W and the announcement on NBCs “Ed Sullivan Show” – “and introducing Mr. Elvis Presley..”

We pay $100 for just 6MB of data.

    • Ronbo says:

      Per MONTH?

And there are no coffee shops around for you to use the free Internet on your laptop :?:

Before I had my apartment wired, I’d go down to the Starbucks a block away, buy one cup of their cheapest coffee and stay for HOURS. I was at this place so much, and got to know the staff and the operation so well, the manager asked if I wanted a job there.
