That is the way it happens in so many fields, at least on my side of the Pond. The Left does something to move the country aggressively leftwards. When the electorate eventually get fed up and vote the other lot in instead, the “Conservatives” do not row back any of the changes, they merely consolidate them; ready for the Left to use the foundation for a further great leap to the left.
Exactly. Which is why any new government should be measured by how many of the laws they “opposed” while in opposition get repealed when they’re back in power.
The answer always – of course – is very few, if any.
