and in this morning’s news: Saudi Arabia shoots down Scud missile fired from Yemen
Excellent. The more involved the primitives are with fighting one another, the better, provided the West stays out of it.  Buy popcorn.

It comes as a relief, KG, when someone writes intelligently on the subject to which I’m always pointing out how news stories are linked: And Just Who are the Useless Eaters?

Where rulers never utter a harsh word towards Malthusian, Utilitarian and Green nutcases (the Godless mix we know as Sustainability worshipers), the ruled are at grave risk.

I reckon horses are for rounding up cattle, Darin. Mind you, I guess the fragile inbred racynag could do that job in a hurry. For an hour or two…

I just found a really neat tool.Ever hear a piece of music in a Youtube or Vimeo video that you really liked, but the author of the video didn’t mention what the title of the music was in the description?
This website will find it for you,all you have to do is paste the video URL into it’s search box and hit go.

I can remember when Coca Cola came only in glass bottles and was made with real sugar.
I can remember when Chocolate milk came in square glass bottles with peel off tin lids.
I can remember when those drinks were refrigerated in coolers with real Freon, the same stuff that made a car AC cold enough to freeze the tits of a boar hog.
I can remember when a pair of blue jeans lasted a decade.

Me too – the Greentards must be getting desperate for a headline.

        • KG says:

I have a question for you and Oswald, Darin – the ammo for Gecko’s .357 lever gun seems to be a fairly loose fit in the chamber, and the shells show evidence of powder marks after firing.
          It’s good Winchester ammo.
          Any thoughts?

          • Darin says:

            I would check in order-
#1 ammo, try a different batch of ammo.Same result then try
#2 headspace, piece of plastigauge or hard candle wax stuck to the casing face either side of the primer.Chamber and eject, then measure the thickness of the gauge wax.if it’s more than .003″(.07mm) it may be time for a fresh chamber
#3 go-no-go gauge, this would be the last thing to check to see if the chamber or throat is eroded.

            • KG says:

I’ll get some plastigauge, Darin. Thanks.
              (A fresh chamber sounds expensive)

            • Darin says:

Oh forgot to ask,is the powder getting down towards the rim or is it just up near the crimp? If it’s near the crimp there are several possibilities. If it’s all the way down I wouldn’t shoot it again until I figured out what’s wrong.

          • Pascal says:

I asked a friend. He says normal wear and tear after 200,000 rounds with the steel Winchester used in barrels, or damage from a single overpressured round, could cause what you’re experiencing. Or if the barrel had ever been rusted and cleaned out.

            • KG says:

Thanks, Darin. I’ll get it to a gunsmith this week. http://falfn.com/CrusaderRabbit/wp-content/plugins/wp-monalisa/icons/wpml_sad.gif
The gun was loaned out for a long time and came back with signs of rust, had obviously been given a rough clean, Pascal, so that’s for sure at least a partial answer. Thanks for asking your friend.
This gun has had nowhere near enough rounds through it to be worn out.

              • Pascal says:

He says a replica barrel should cost about $300 plus install. A real Winchester about $1000.

                • KG says:

Local gunsmiths tell me a re-barrel would cost more than a new gun!
                  Thieving bastards. 8O

                • Pascal says:

“If it shoots and shoots accurately, I’d leave it alone. Chamber wear and blow-by is not generally life threatening. Accuracy is easy enough to test.”

    • Darin says:

Hmmm…..with a name like Mohammed the cat was probably right to bite him.

  12. KG says:

    To Pascal, above:
It doesn’t shoot too badly for a lever gun and I doubt the barrel itself is very worn.
Anyway I’ll get it gauged next week and have a think about it. At the very least it’s a handy close-quarters tool.
