The stance of the West Coast Regional Council in this matter is refreshingly skeptical and is indicative that they have not lost contact with their constituents needs.
Needless to say the media are happy to portray them as mindless “red-necks.” Sadly I doubt whether other local authorities will take the stand the WCRC has adopted due to them often being urban based and environmentally clueless.
Being a member of the Greens ought to be a badge of shame and in a sane world, it would be.
