Southern’s Serenade #4

Glad y’all liked that oldies post, but warning, this is not a repeat. Something in that last post made me think, Southern, I bet you could search “street music” and find some unusual tunes or self produced videos. After a few links, in a flash of burning inspiration, I said, why just add the name of a city to street music and search. So here first we landed in New York City “Dueling Saxophones” and this clearly is a spontaneous event, very pleasant to the eye and ear. There may be hundreds of these pieces, might suggest you surf around in them.

But onward and upward or perhaps I should say Southward and downward to “Atlanta Scenes. Experimental Music” Why on the Earth Wide Web did Southern choose that one? Reason: the beautiful still images of Atlanta or “Hotlanta” hub of the South.

Talking about downward let’s visit the city below the Gulf of Mexico, New Orleans “French Quarter Jazz Musicians” but I would call the sound R&B, nary a jazz sound to it. I feel for those citizens there, they build below sea level, get wiped out and somehow it is Boosh’s fault. And hey, I’m no fan of Boosh either. What is the saying a house built on sand will not stand? If you build in a floodplain, expect a flood to wipe you out. Seems like common sense but hey y’all, keep picking that music! Original 1960 song by Buster Brown, “Fannie Mae” Probably then neither a cell phone or video camera was nearby so this is just a play of the song. As a 15 year old, that harp just blew me out!

You about ready for some “Satisfaction” Pretty good, could have been longer but guess they got “blow’d out.”

The bog administrator and I both like plaid. (he does’nt. kg) Here’s a group in Brighton, England. You must give it to musicians who will get out on the street or on a stage and play their hearts out for you. Then you have the Blue Dogs in Charleston, South Carolina. Granted, this is not a street music group but what the hey! it’s a pretty way to end this post.

Love ya baby! Next time! Southern
