Heading off to Brisbane for a few days, and after that probably Alice Springs or Lightning Ridge. Or Darwin, maybe.
Leftists/”progressives”/socialists are not welcome here. Pay for your own soapbox.

Have a great trip! Lot’s to see and do!
Thanks Nemesis. We’ll probably just noodle our way quietly down the coast for a week or two, looking at boats and enjoying the sight and smell of salt water again.
Any progress on the boat situation?I hear there is a big one for sale cheap, needs minor repair to the hull.
It’s too ugly, Darin.
Well, we’re still looking–the marine surveyor gave the one we liked the thumbs-down but there are a couple of others which look pretty good. More expensive, though.
Just because he says the wood borers are the only thing keeping the water out he nixes it,darned pessimist
Have fun on the trip!
Thanks. Mostly, the road between here and Brisbane is long, boring straights. Only the occasional kangaroo trying to commit rooicide livens things up.
Us too! A week at Rosebud. No work, no alarm clock, winery visits and fun at the beach.
Holidays? You have obviously been exploiting the workers again!
Well Cad, I got the nicest gift from the downtrodden exploited workers yesterday. After a particularly shitty week, I took them out for lunch yesterday. They gave me a bottle of wine and a note that read:
“Thanks for being such a great boss and always supporting us. We really appreciate the hard work you’ve put in to help make the place what it is. We hope you have a wonderful, relaxing, well deserved holiday with your family and come back refreshed for another round.”
This is a clear case of Stockholm Syndrome. Either that or I haven’t used the lash as much as I should!
The “thanks” are obviously a perverse by-product of exploitation.
Victoria doesn’t have “beaches”–it does have coastal areas swept by sub-Antarctic winds and pounded by huge waves though. Probably the last thing those Mexican immigrants see on their way to Queensland, during one of the frequent refugee waves from the People’s Democratic Republic of Shitstan.
Wabbit is not a huge fan of Vic. It should have qualified for a place in P.J.O’Rourke’s book “Holidays in Hell”.
Yeah I know, but the house we’ve rented has a spa pool, and is within crawling distance from several excellent wineries. Mrs Gantt didn’t want to fly, so North O’ The Border was out of the question, sadly.
Phew! Thought I’d offended you, Gantt.
We very much like the area around Lake’s Entrance, but that’s about it. After spending a year in Melbourne we were very glad to get out of the place. (mind you, Brunswick, where we were, isn’t exactly the best part of the city, is it? )
Ya know KG, I reckon Melbourne is one of the easiest cities to get around in, and I’ve been to a few in my time. Not that I’d like to live there mind.
True enough, Nemesis–I was just relieved it was easy to get out of. A year working at Essendon airport was enough.
By golly you’ve been around! Are you sure you’re not a bad penny?
Try Hepburn Springs for a decent break in VIC.
It’s a beautiful part of Vic but there isn’t a lot for Miss Five to do there. At least at the “beach” she can put a polar jacket on and make sand castles.
Oops. Log in first, then post.
I liked Daylesford. Very pretty and bursting with character.
Wonderful restaurant by the duck pond (oops lake.)
and day-trippers….
oops! Bad timing:
‘Severe storms are battering southeast Queensland, with emergency services warning residents that conditions will worsen and to prepare their homes..’
you Luckies!!!
Have fun – GECKO and KG-
Carol-CS
oppps-
so- you are NOT GOING!?
C-CS
Thanks, Carol. Of course we’re going–it’s only storms.
Have a safe journey and plenty of adventures.
Take plenty of pics too.
Will you be following the coast road to Townsville and then turn left towards Tenant’s Creek?
Thats what I did 5 years ago, though I went clockwise on my circumnavigation of Australia.
Not sure yet, FFM. Mostly, The Plan is to go to Brisbane to have a coffee with somebody and then amble down the coast until we know where our next destination is–and we won’t know that for at least a week.
I’m just off to Napier for a week and that is as far as the planning has gone.
Try to plan every detail of a trip away and someone is sure to bugger it up!
