The lucrative salaries are a comparatively trivial point–what matters is that key positions will be held by Labor apparatchiks who will be in a position to undermine and frustrate a conservative government. Tony Abbott will need to develop or discover a ruthless streak, and damn the leftist media’s squeals of outrage.

The promise and the threat were crystal clear. Nobody has any excuse at all to claim they meant something else. Now, look at this:
