We get ground pounders here too KG,lots of cloud to ground lightning.Worked a few summers a go with some guys over here from the UK.They had never experienced honest to God gates of Hell slamming shut lightining back home, made them a bit nervous standing by an open shop door,so they quietly moved inside about 30 feet or so
Then there is one thing you never want to see in these storms
Joplin,Missouri,gone in 15 minutes- http://youtu.be/779O5EjZn1o
Oh yeah…I’m very glad we don’t get those!
Ummmm, KG, that appears suspiciously like a hurricane forming …………………………. told the FodGuy, I want to live where hurricanes & tornadoes are rare as hens’ teeth ………………………………….. been there, done that, have T-shirt & coffee mug, DON’T want to repeat it – last tornado I experienced was at night, in NOVEMBER, driving from Humble to Houston – it “skipped” over the highway – here’s the thing about that – November is NOT the time of year when one should worry about tornadoes …………………………..

“Ummmm, KG, that appears suspiciously like a hurricane forming ” Yes indeedy..
We’re hoping, DM.
As for tornadoes…I’d worry about them regardless of the time of year. They have to be the freakiest thing in nature, much more so than ‘quakes.
Actually anywhere in the world that sees violent thunderstorms will have them and the greater the temperature differential between one side of frontal boundry and the other the greater the chance and severity.
