What Stukas and Panzers couldn’t, bureaucrats can:

‘German Chancellor Angela Merkel is calling for countries to give up more powers to Europe “step by step” as the continent tries to claw its way out of the debt crisis and says a “political union” is needed as leaders prepare for a closely watched summit later this month.
…..”We need not just a currency union; we also need a so-called fiscal union, more common budget policies. And we need above all a political union,” she added. “That means that we must, step by step as things go forward, give up powers to Europe as well.”….’
What she means, of course, is give up national sovereignty to a bunch of unelected bureaucrats in Brussels and to bankers….with Germany calling the shots.

Back from the expedition to Townsville–with a new (ish) car and beer supplies.

  2. The Gantt Guy says:

Herr Merkel will undoubtedly succeed where Herr Hitler failed. Already she has the Vichy in Brussels clam luring, beseeching her to save their utopian socialist dream. The people of the various nation states need to start demanding binding referenda on continued membership of the EUSSR before those nation states cease to exist.

    • KG says:

It’ll never happen, Gantt. I fear this beast is slouching towards totalitarianism and nothing short of civil war will stop it.

    • Ronbo says:

      Deutschland Uber Alles!

But seriously, after spending six years in two tours of my U.S. Army career in dear old Dutchland (Berlin and Augsburg), Dr. Ronbo says them Krauts are cured of that there Nazi and Communist fever and can safely be trusted with European leadership.

After all, the Federal Republic of Germany was modeled on the USA and has the strongest economy in that part of the world.

Therefore, it is as natural for Germany to dominate Europe, as it is for the USA to dominate the Americas.

…And if Europe isn’t dominated by Germany, the hungry Russian bear will wolf it down…Quite frankly I would rather Germany be calling the shots than the Russians.

      • The Gantt Guy says:

You’re probably right in terms of the traditional form of totalitarianism, Ronbo, but it’s beyond question Brussels seeks to destroy the nation state.

What if the weak nations (Greece, Spain, Italy, France) demand protection and funding from Germany at the threat of leaving the EUSSR? Will Germany refuse to subsume one if those weaklings or will she see the EUSSR break up? We all know that once one country leaves others will follow, and the European dream will die. That’s why none of the LSM is talking about Iceland these days. Remember the first country to declare bankruptcy? It’s had its debt forgiven and is now doing very nicely indeed, thank you very much.

Or, what if those weak nations look to Germany on the one hand and Putin’s Russia on the other and prefer the velvet glove of German rule over the steel-toed jackboot of Russia?

  3. Andrei says:

I think the civil war will happen before it establishes itself much further – you cannot have over 50% of your young men unemployed for very long and with no end in sight before there is a bad consequence.

  4. Mark Hubbard says:

Unfortunately, with the President of Spain demanding a centralised agency to run Europe, and for the fist time since WWII, an actual fascist party elected int the Greek Parliament, totalitarianism is set to stalk Europe all over again. There must be few men who have done more damage than Keynes.

    • Sir Scumsucker says:

To be fair to Keynes, didn’t he advocate for budget surpluses during boom times and NO MORE THAN 4% budget deficit during recessions?

      • The Gantt Guy says:

Yep, but the 21st century economist has taken his brilliant theory and improved the hell out of it! If 4% will save us, just imagine what 120% would do! It’s what makes today’s economic geniuses like Paul Krugman (the Spoonley of the economics world) so much smarter than any of those fools back in the 20th.

    • The Gantt Guy says:

Dr Sowell is one of the great minds, of history and the present. He has been warning of the guaranteed outcomes of socialism, or race-based preference and of the strive for utopian “equality” for as long as I have been alive.

  5. octagongrappler says:

What will happen is a Global currency and specific unions worldwide!! Like the EU, we will be part of an open border Asia Union as Krudd layed out in 2009..Then the Global Currency will be run by the Private banking Elite.

    Only War will stop this!!!

  6. KG says:

    “Only War will stop this!!!”
    Yes.

  7. Almost no young men in Europe have the stomach to fight, they are all atheists scared to stand up for anything that may mean death.

  8. I’m reminded of an early scene in Bruce Willis’s old movie Die Hard. Willis’s character is being introduced to his wife’s top boss, a Japanese gentleman. Willis remarks that the company, a Japanese owned firm, has prospered remarkably, and the executive quips, “Pearl Harbor didn’t work out, so we got you with tape decks.”

    Food for thought.
