In a Nutshell

Goodwin-

“The president tweeted the image the day House Democrats voted to impeach him, and hours after his raucous rally in Michigan that evening.

The tweet included no added comment because none was needed. The message is clear: I am all that stands between you and the barbarians at the gate. If I fall, you are next.”

Precisely so.

For the Lack of a Few Planes, or?

If I remember correctly, the last time Australia was dealing with a swarm of bush fires there was a shortage of water bomber aircraft then too.

Sydney Morning Herald-

From the article-

“”Converting the Hercules C130 for water-bombing would take considerable engineering and time to complete,” he said. “Taking the Hercules out of military service would also leave Australian troops on the battlefield without the support they need.”

That’s what they said the last time, no thought towards being better prepared for the next time?

I hope I’m not being too critical, as I am half a world away, but seems to me this is more a failure of priority and a lack of planning than it is a a lack of planes.

In the US we have more than a few C-130’s laying around that could be had reasonable and converted in time for the next fire.

First ban guns……

Then empty out the prisons, same tactics used to take over Venezuela-

Breitbart-

From the article-

“As Breitbart News reported, New York’s bail reforms, set to go into effect January 2020, will ensure that suspects accused of crimes deemed “non-violent” are not jailed before their trial dates and do not have to post bail. Instead, these suspects are released directly back into the public and expected to show up for their court dates. Roughly 125,000 accused criminals are expected to be released from prison every year in the state.”

But wait, it gets better-

“Those so-called non-violent crimes include second-degree manslaughter, aggravated vehicular assault, promoting an obscene sexual performance by a child, possessing an obscene sexual performance by a child, criminally negligent homicide, and aggravated vehicular homicide.

As part of the measure, defendants will have new privileges in their criminal trials — including being allowed to inspect their own crime scenes. For example, if an individual is charged with home burglary, the suspect will be allowed to return to the victim’s home and inspect their property as part of their defense.”

I thought this was a satire piece, but then saw where it was New York, at which point it made perfect sense, then came the punchline-

“Another portion of the law will more quickly give defendants a full list of named witnesses testifying against them in the criminal trial. Starting in January, the prosecution will be forced to hand over to defendants a list of named witnesses within 15 days of the defendants’ arraignment.”

Well that should free up the courts, no witnesses, ever, cause nobody saw nothing. Of course crime will skyrocket, but that is a feature of the design, not a flaw. The goal here is to make things bad enough, so that a more draconian surveillance state can be installed, all with the rubber stamp of the voters made desperate to put the cap back on the bottle.

Remember, the left’s idea of “solving” the crime problem, is to turn the entire state into one giant prison.

If that elicits a wow from you, let me remind you of Robert Conquest’s Third Law of Politics.

The simplest way to explain the behavior of any bureaucratic organization is to assume that it is controlled by a cabal of its enemies.

Solution anyone?

Today New Zealand is a bit more dangerous

50,000 legal firearms confiscated in New Zealand “buyback”

Breitbart-

“Provisional figures indicate 33,000 people handed in 51,000 guns, and another 5,000 guns as part of a parallel amnesty in which owners could hand over any type of firearm without any questions being asked but without getting compensated.”

“Police Minister Stuart Nash told reporters Saturday that criminals would find it harder to get their hands on assault weapons because they tended to steal them from lawful owners, but those weapons would now be out of circulation.”

“Both Nash and Clement said the country was now safer than it had been before the March attacks.”

SAFER for criminals that is, the only thing the law has done is disarm law abiding people you absolute tools.
