‘Arctic Sees Shortest Summer On Record’
‘Climate Depot Explains Arctic melting hype’
“The Arctic ocean is warming up, icebergs are growing scarcer and in some places the seals are finding the water too hot, according to a report to the Commerce Department yesterday from Consul Ifft, at Bergen, Norway. Reports from fishermen, seal hunters and explorers, he declared, all point to a radical change in climate conditions and hitherto unheard-of temperatures in the Arctic zone…Great masses of ice have been replaced by moraines of earth and stones, the report continued, while at many points well known glaciers have entirely disappeared.”
November 2nd, 1922 article in the Washington Post article titled “Arctic Ocean Getting Warm; Seals Vanish and Icebergs Melt”

Henry Ergas and Judith Sloan, writing in The Australian:
‘..At least $120bn in needlessly accumulated debt; about $100bn in waste from poor quality spending and taxing; $30bn in losses from the NBN alone; and an industrial relations system that reduces national income by at least $6bn a year and creates an adversarial climate in the workplace: all that makes Rudd the costliest prime minister in Australian history.
…….That then is Rudd: uninterested in economics, contemptuous of process, the most recent incarnation of “whatever it takes” man in a party tainted by corruption and cronyism.’
“What was to be a relatively innocuous federal government, operating from a defined enumeration of specific grants of power, has become an ever-present and unaccountable force,” he writes.
“It is the nation’s largest creditor, debtor, lender, employer, consumer, contractor, grantor, property owner, tenant, insurer, health-care provider, and pension guarantor. Moreover, with aggrandized police powers, what it does not control directly it bans or mandates by regulation. For example, the federal government regulates most things in your bathroom, laundry room, and kitchen, as well as the mortgage you hold on your house. It designs your automobile and dictates the kind of fuel it uses. It regulates your baby’s toys, crib, and stroller; plans your children’s school curriculum and lunch menu; and administers their student loans in college. At your place of employment, the federal government oversees everything from the racial, gender, and age diversity of the workforce to the hours, wages, and benefits paid. Indeed, the question is not what the federal government regulates, but what it does not. And it makes you wonder — how can a people incapable of selecting their own light bulbs and toilets possess enough competence to vote for their own rulers and fill out complicated tax returns?”

‘It’s one of the US Marine Corps’ more famous mottos, and 19-year-old Lance Corporal Myles Kerr lived up to it on Saturday. Not on the battlefield, but in a 5km race.
LCpl Kerr was competing in the Jeff Drench Memorial 5K in Charlevoix, Michigan with several other marines when he spotted a nine-year-old boy, Boden Fuchs, struggling to finish the race after falling behind the rest of his group, The Huffington Post reports.
“Sir, will you please run with me?” Boden asked LCpl Kerr.
So the marine dropped back from his buddies to run alongside the boy, motivating and encouraging him….’
‘John Key has justified the changes to the country’s spying laws by saying some people in New Zealand have been trained by al-Qaeda.
…In the radio interview Mr Key said in the “real world” the power to spy on civilians was necessary.
“In New Zealand there are people who’ve been trained for al-Qaeda camps who operate out of New Zealand, who are in contact with people overseas, who have gone off to Yemen and other countries to train.
“I’m sorry, but that’s the real world.”
Well, I’m sorry too, Mr. Key. Sorry to see what was a fine little country being led by a smirking asshole who thinks that it’s better to spy on ordinary Kiwis than to revoke the citizenship of and deport people who are not, never were and never will be Kiwis.
But of course it’s not really about a few people training with Al Qaeda, is it? That’s merely an excuse to ramp up government surveillance and control and satisfy your filthy statist urges.
‘SYDNEY, Aug 1 AAP – A Bangladeshi refugee who is accused of groping a blind woman’s breasts on a Sydney train may have assaulted others, a court has heard.
Rubel Sheikh, 25, applied for bail at Parramatta Local Court after he was charged with twice indecently assaulting a young blind woman while she was travelling on a Sydney train last month.
Prosecutor Louise Cummings told the court Sheikh was a refugee who had only been in Australia for a month….’
On his proposal to raise tax on tobacco:
“I say again, when it comes to cancer, treating cancer and smoking-related cancers costs the Australian taxpayer hundreds of millions of dollars each year and frankly these are funds which we have to raise from the taxpayer.”
The truth:
‘Smokers cost the health system $318 million a year, according to a Treasury analysis this year.
But with this increase they will pay in total more than $7 billion a year in excise and customs duties.’
Kevin Rudd is a barefaced liar. So, sue me, you socialist prick.
